MAGHULL CRICKET CLUB
2025 was an eventful season for Maghull cricket, both on and
off the field, but on the whole a successful one for the men,
women, boys and girls who took to the field for the club. The
club didn’t allow the negative reaction due to anti-social behaviour early in
the season to cloud over the campaign, and as a result a full season was
played out with many people dedicating many hours to helping the club.
The 1st XI endured a difficult season under first year captain Anthony
Molloy, but were eventually able to retain their 1st Division Status for the 2026
season. The 2nd XI, relegated to the second division in 2024, bounced back to
secure promotion at their first attempt and also reached the Tittershill Cup
final for the second season in a row. Sadly, Jamie Breakwell’s side were
unable to pick up the trophy. The 3rd and 4th XIs played out full campaigns,
offering chances for veteran players and youngsters taking their first steps
into senior cricket to enjoy their games.
It was a busy season for the juniors and ladies’ sides, with many keen and
promising players on show taking their early steps into the game and
enjoying every step of the way. The club also hosted it’s annual Charity Day
for Zoe’s Place; an event that has seen the club raise over £30,000 for this
deserving cause over the years. A great deal of credit goes to Gareth Lloyd
and his team of happy helpers for making this day possible.
The club is looking forward to celebrating its centenary year in 2026, with
a host of events to commemorate 100 years of Maghull Cricket.
